Abstract
The idea of this book developed soon after the editors’ attended the first meeting of the Association of Fiji Writers-Artists (AFWA) in July 2017 held at The University of Fiji. The gathering of illustrious and budding writers and artists raised significant questions after which, it was planned to invite writers to submit narratives on issues, challenges and ways to empower writing and publishing in Fiji. An over whelming response from eminent as well as emerging writers is the product in your hand. It was crucial that the chapters submitted were in line with the theme of this book; therefore some submissions could not be included in this volume. We have organized the book into four parts to enable readers to refer easily to chapters pertinent to them. The text has specifically used a narrative approach in order to look at the subject in each chapter through the eyes of an ordinary reader.
