What are your green educational values? Consider: Children as veggie gardeners

When early childhood educators consider their green education values, an approach of 'who, why, how' can help them reveal their everyday understandings and commitments. In this article, the back-to-nature example is 'children as veggie gardeners', with a focus on 'why'. Who Gardens? Children are at the centre of any meaningful gardening, but educators and parents are their partners for planning and planting. Young children and significant adults become versatile gardeners with the support of interesting places, plots and pots. Both people and places are vital. But, for realistic and authentic gardening to happen, I suggest that you and your colleagues consider what green views and values you hold.
