Abstract
The topic of today's conference – "Should Tribunals be required to meet performance criteria" is contentious and brings into focus the tension between accountability and tribunal member independence. It carries with it many value-laden issues including: • What is performance evaluation? • What is the purpose of the performance evaluation? • What methodologies and strategies will be applied in conducting the evaluation? • What disclosure will be made of the results of the performance evaluation?
