Abstract
<p>The nexus between tourism and sustainable development has become one of the global priorities in the 21st century. Although the preparation of travel and tourism (T&T) sector-specific human capital development policies and plans is a regional priority for ASEAN nations, sector-specific workforce planning and development (WPD) remains an underexplored topic. This chapter responds to this gap and examines the T&T sector in Indonesia, with emphasis on sustainable tourism, and contends that the concerted impetus on T&T-specific WPD must be a priority for the country in order to fulfil its sustainable development aspirations.</p>
