The ring-ditch burials of Northwestern Thailand and the archaeology of resistance

Recent archaeological study of sites in the uplands of northwestern Thailand has indicated the presence of socially complex cultures which were interacting with lowland centres from as early as the 5th century AD. Sites of monumental ring-ditch burials have been found to have been heavily looted. Further research on their significance will require require techniques appropriate to disturbed sites.
