The Resurrection of Aristeides, Miltiades, Solon and Perikles in Eupolis' Demes

First of all, there was the belief that the protagonist of the Demes was to be identified with the general Myronides, who had been long dead at the time of production of the play and could therefore interact with the four dead statesmen only in the underworld, before they were all 'resurrected' to the world of the living. Conversely, none of these elements is present in Eupolis' Demes. [...] the identity of the Chorus makes the hypothesis of a scene set in the underworld rather improbable.
