The need for effective literature searching for burns research: A timely reminder

As peer reviewers for BURNS and other publishers, we are in a privileged and honoured position to have the opportunity to preview and guide clinical and diagnostic research that has an impact on patient outcomes. Anecdotally, we can testify to the ongoing enhancement of the academic quality of research and knowledge within the domain of burns and trauma rehabilitation over the past decade. In particular, there is a continued upswing in the number of studies designed to promote higher level of evidence published in BURNS. However, it is our further observation that the standard of search strategies and reporting could be improved.
