The importance of research to inform knowledge, policy and education, and the role of emerging researchers

Abstract

This keynote presentation will highlight the important contributions seniors and postgraduate research students can play to generating new knowledge in promoting positive ageism and reversing the negative impacts of ageism in our society. Such research can offer value adding to the current research agenda often dominated by the research priorities of funding bodies or the interests of what Carol Estes termed more than several decades ago 'The Ageing Enterprise'. The presentation will also highlight how research questions, conceptual frameworks and research methodologies can inform the conduct of such research.
