Abstract

Identification of factors that effect the level of production is useful for management, and it is an essential part of genetic evaluation. Previous experiments have identified a significant effect of feeding regime (a controllable aspect of management) on carcase traits and lean meat growth (Cameron et al., 1999). In this study it was possible to include the sex of the animal in the analysis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effecf of sex on carcase traits and the interaction between sex and feeding regime (S x F), using data from a commercial herd.
