Abstract

Hot climatic conditions can lower an animal’s production by altering physiological characteristics and behaviour and thereby affect feed intake, digestibility and live weight gain. Various feed additives have been evaluated for heat stress management (Cronjé, 2005). This study was conducted to evaluate, under both cool and hot conditions, the behavioural and physiological responses of Merino wethers given a diet of lucerne pellets with or without a yeast-based feed additive.
