This book examines the contradictory character of Thailand's development experience via a combined focus on the socio-spatial aspects of inequality, industrialisation, changes in the labour process, and the key role played by the state. Conceptually, Glassman analysis is informed by a geographical historical-materialist approach to issues of state, class and uneven development. The result is a rich and cogently argued book that marks a major theoretical and empirical contribution to existing knowledge of Thailand's contemporary political economy.
