Abstract

Whilst wildlife researchers have historically been the primary users of animal tracking technology there has been an increasing rate of adoption of these tools amongst livestock scientists over recent years (Trotter et al. 2009). The main autonomous spatial monitoring technology used in livestock tracking has been the NAVSTAR GPS system. GPS has been applied in a range of projects... This presentation will review spatial monitoring of livestock in Australia, the current strategies that have been used to analyse livestock movement data and identify the potential areas of collaboration that might be achieved with wildlife researchers.
