Abstract

Armidale is a multi-faith community with a long history of abiding religious commitment from its people. Armidale's city status is due to the presence of two cathedrals whose distinctive shapes and close proximity to each other distinguish the skyline. The iconic Armidale image is that of a cathedral spire peeping out above the winter fog or half hidden behind the autumn colour. Religion and Armidale are inseparable - historically, architecturally and culturally.
