Abstract
Whether directly or indirectly, the Abstract and Introduction of Michael Lynch's (2025) commentary on "Ethnomethodology's Broken Promise" (Livingston, 2025) suggest, first, that my paper should have been titled "Garfinkel's Broken Promise" and, second, that I am an ingrate who has misunderstood and dishonored the person who Lynch refers to three times in two pages as my "mentor". Then, on (2025:362), mimicking my words, Lynch has a full paragraph listing some of the things about which I was silent.
