Public–Private Partnership (PPP) in Developing Countries’ Healthcare: Collaborative Governance Challenges, Opportunities, and Lessons from Bangladesh

Public–private partnerships (PPPs) are becoming a strategic solution to enhance service delivery and address financial constraints worldwide. PPPs in Bangladesh’s healthcare are emerging; however, evidence on their effectiveness remains limited. Grounded in New Public Management and New Public Governance frameworks, this qualitative study explores a healthcare PPP’s collaborative dynamics, stakeholder coordination, contractual clarity, and service delivery. Findings reveal potential benefits in cost-effectiveness and service quality, while also highlighting challenges, including weak coordination and unsustainable delivery. The study emphasizes that PPP success depends on effective collaboration and governance, offering lessons on risk management and value enhancement for developing countries.
