Progress and future actions toward gender equity in IEAM

In the editorial of the March 2022 issue of Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management (IEAM), Royer strongly advocated for greater action on diversity representation in SETAC (Royer, 2022). This was one of the first editorials IEAM since the journal's inception in 2005 to specifically comment on diversity, equity, and inclusion, notwithstanding the editorial in June 2021 warning about the pressure on female graduate students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) (Hicks, 2021). IEAM fills an important gap in science communication, bridging the gap between scientific research and the application of science in decision making, policy and regulation, and environmental management, but is also charged with meeting the principles of the Statement on Fostering Inclusivity at SETAC, for building diversity, equity, and inclusion into SETAC Projects and Programs (https://www.setac.org/page/DEI-memo).
