Abstract

This report covers Australia, Chile, Israel and South Africa. Israel and South Africa are 'mixed jurisdictions', markedly influenced by both Common and Civil Law traditions, which for that reason demand inclusion in any broad-based comparative legal research. Australia and Chile are, respectively, Common Law and Civil Law jurisdictions, and they offer a perspective on how these two broad traditions have extended their reach to other parts of the world, adapting themselves in the process to local circumstances.
