Abstract
This critical preface introduces Fabrizio Galvagni's translations from Russian into Bresciano (or Bresà), a non-standard variety of italo-romance spoken in the Brescia province, situated in the north of Italy. Although well aware of the lexical poverty of our language, especially in expressing abstract concepts, in this collection Galvagni has decided, once again, to challenge himself by translating poetry into Bresciano. Moreover he didn’t choose to draw from a standard national language genetically related to our language, like Italian or French, but from a distant one, a Slavic language that carries an immense literary tradition, which is often pervaded by profound mysticism, Russian.
