Abstract

To date there has been minimal scholarly attention to analysing the lives and work of Australian actors, and their artistic contributions, to the massive expansion and development of our multi-million dollar culture industries, from 1950 to the present. This research answers the questions: what is the contribution of each of these Australian actors to the development of theatre, television and film in Australia over the last half century? What did they contribute individually to Australian acting, writing and production? How have the actors contributed to the transformation of acting and of drama, and to the professionalisation and internationalisation of the industries? What is the historical and contemporary significance of these actors to acting, drama, television and film?
