Abstract
People everywhere are deeply concerned about the slaughter and starvation of civilians, including many children, during armed conflicts. Wars also impact globally on economies and the environment. However, wars are not inevitable; peace experts and movements have evolved effective ways to resolve conflicts and achieve peace and justice, and many of these were showcased at the 2025 Peace and Justice Conference, the sixth biennial conference by the University of New England’s Peace Studies discipline, held at UNE’s Parramatta campus from 13-14 February and at an international Buddhist centre on 15 February. This special New Community edition, dedicated to the themes of peace and justice, includes papers presented at that event.
