Abstract
The article describes aspects of present-day organ culture in New York, including organ studies at The Juilliard School, a historic organ in Brooklyn, and organ culture in a tradition Liberal Synagogue. Although the focus on large-scale instruments - and accordingly the need for generous private donors - is still prevalent, it is argued that these cliches are too limited a view of New York organ culture.
