Obituary: Roland Robinson

The poet Roland Robinson died in Newcastle on Saturday 8th February. He was born in 1912 at Ballbriggan, Eire, or English Parents, but had been in Australia since the age of nine, working mainly out of doors and having a long time association with both detribalised Aborigines and those of the northern territory. He maintained two publishing careers, one of his own pantheistic verse with its strong commitment to nature and to bush place, the other concerned to tell the Aboriginal tales and legends which he had helped to translate, these latter volumes including Legend and Dreaming (1952), The Feathered Serpent (1956), The Man Who Sold His Dreaming (1965), and Aboriginal Myths and Legends (1966).
