Multi-grade Teaching in Australia

Abstract

Australia has always had some form of mixed-grade teaching. Since European settlement, the type of formal mixed-grade teaching has evolved so that there are now at least five distinct types of mixed-grade arrangement. In this paper, I discuss the different types classes, their prevalence, some of the problems associated with teaching these classes, and strategies used.
