Abstract
As you drive the 115km from the Walkabout Creek Pub in McKinlay to Cloncurry with the escarpments of the Selwyn Range on your left, or the 170km from the Min-Min Centre at Boulia to Dajarra, you pass no towns and see few houses. You would be forgiven for thinking that the land was sparsely populated and of no importance.
