Abstract

In a region of the world heavily dependent on marine resources the importance of providing fisheries officers with reliable and up-to-date information is vital. Discusses the problems of providing marine information in the South Pacific region, describes the work of the Pacific Islands Marine Resources Information System (PIMRIS) and its components, and summarizes the findings of a survey of the information-seeking behaviour of fisheries officers in the South Pacific region.
