Introduction to 'New England Lives III'

    Abstract

This volume contains some nine substantial biographic essays, all of which focus in some detail significant persons, - perhaps fifteen in all, - whereas the first and second collections in this series were more concerned with discrete individuals and careers. However, almost all the portraits now included focus significant periods spent in the New England region, this term again deemed to include particularly the lower areas of the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales/ relevant adjacent regions. And again it was intended that the more focused treatment would allow for more intimate/ local and even anecdotal materials not likely to be found in standard reference aids. Further, there remains the hope that a number of 'our' lives may ultimately achieve booklength treatment later.
