Abstract
As suggested in the Series Preface, the main purpose of Volume One is to represent the "standard" central concerns of political sociology as these have been developed by key authors from 1970 to the present (the most recent essay is from 2004). These themes are broadly captured in the volume's subtitle: 'Power, State and Inequality'.
