Abstract

This book introduces Teacher Education Students (TESs) and teacher educators to the Australian context of teaching health education and physical education. This third edition highlights the confirmed status of the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education and the process of the syllabus being either adopted or adapted across the states and territories of Australia. The journey has been optimistic, full of commitment and hard work from a range of stakeholders. Such resilience has paid off. The previous edition of this book was punctuated by a review of the Australian Curriculum in its entirety which occurred in October 2014. Following the review and incorporating the views of a range of stakeholders, endorsement of HPE by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) ensued in late 2015. It has now moved ahead to be released to all states and has been adopted or adapted at each state and territory level.
