Abstract
What is necessary for a field to grow and to construct its relative autonomy? The production of knowledge could be one answer. This was the sentiment that inspired this book: promote theoretical knowledge of practical issues within the field of Physical Education. We had the possibility to observe daily practices within this field with 'borrowed eyes'. We were able to think about universal problems with local tools, as we collected Latin-American research that assist us in thinking contextual solutions with regional resources. This book, therefore, emerge with the belief that is necessary to build own resources, discourses and practices, in our own settings, with collaborations from other Latin American researchers.
