Abstract

Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) states that “Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits”. For practitioners, students, and researchers, across the creative arts therapies these words can offer inspiration, showing us that our work with some of the most vulnerable in society reaches beyond the parameters of individual benefit, and upholds human rights and freedoms, that strengthen society.
