Abstract

In late 1996 the Museums Committee of the New South Wales Ministry for the Arts initiated a project to survey and assist local museums in regional New South Wales in the identification, care and display of objects relating to the history of Chinese people in their localities and regions. The resulting talks, publications, assistance to museums and community groups, travelling exhibition and book were presented under the banner of 'Golden Threads: The Chinese in regional NSW 1850-1950'.
