Abstract
The Gwydir River and its associated wetland system supports significant numbers of nationally and internationally important (JAMBA, CAMBA, ROKAMBA) waterbird species within the Gwydir River Selected Area (Selected Area). When inundated, the Gwydir wetland system provides important waterbird habitat that contributes significantly to waterbird biodiversity and abundance in the Murray-Darling Basin. During widespread inundation the wetlands also support nationally significant waterbird colonies (DECCW 2011).
