Abstract

Bill McClymont (1920-2000) was, from 1954 to 1980, the foundation Dean of the faculty of Rural Science at the University of New England and he was also chosen as the first professor, - and, in effect, already deemed to be the most significant person hitherto appointed – to deliver an inaugural lecture on 11th July 1955. And so, his bold plan for practical action to integrate the disparate parts of professional training for the rural sector would be presented to the city of Armidale, and thus, in effect, to the whole surrounding community.
