Abstract

Catherine Scott's opinion piece in the April edition of 'Professional Educator' may possibly be a work of satire, but it would be very sad if it were to do damage, wittingly or unwittingly, to the gifted and talented children who most need our help. Our aim in responding here is to propose a prolegomena for any future professional dialogue on 'gifted and talented education' through a reflection on special education, IQ and underachievement.
