General capabilities and health and physical education

Judith Miller

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterResearchpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter focuses on the general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum. It addresses the seven general capabilities as they relate to and enhance learning in the health and physical education key learning area. This chapter builds on the introduction of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian HPE Curriculum as outlined in the previous chapter. In this edition, all seven general capabilities will be explored equally. Three cross-curriculum priorities are included in the Australian Curriculum: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures; Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia; and sustainability. There is more information on the general capabilities framework made available by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
