Abstract

Early-age feeding strategies can enhance intestinal development and subsequent body growth of broiler chickens. Several supplements have been evaluated to identify the most suitable products and the best mode of delivery. The results of trials on the effects of these supplements differ and there is still a dearth of information on the mechanisms responsible for the effects of these products. In this review, we present an overview of the effects of early-age nutrition and discuss various methods of delivering supplements with emphasis on ongoing studies at the University of New England.
