Abstract
This chapter critically reviews the three prevailing approaches to multimodal discourse analysis, including the systemic functional semiotics, multimodal interactional analysis, and corpus linguistics. It identifies the relevance of each approach to multimodal situated discourses, which the project is concerned with.
