Abstract
• Current aspirations for physical education form part of major public agendas - sporting excellence, PA and obesity, lifestyle and active leisure, citizenship. • These aspirations are legitimate and demonstrate the social relevance and importance of physical education. • We require radical reform of the subject to meet the challenge of these agendas. • MBP presents one way forward, and one possible future for physical education in schools.
