Abstract
An understanding of cell structure and function is one of the central tenants of the study of biology. The activity described below, based on a model devised and originally built by David Tulip, offers a method of engaging students in their own research into the cell which is both stimulating for the students and low cost for the institution involved. This modelling process was recently conducted at QUT with a group of thirteen in-service science teacher educators from the Philippines. The method which they employed is outlined along with some of the responses they provided in an evaluation.
