Abstract
Information security on the Internet has never been a high priority until communications and commerce proliferate dramatically (the Internet has 1.07 billion users worldwide) and threats like viruses. spyware, phishing, pharming and even cookies became well known to ordinary users and they started to refuse to shop online worried about credit card or personal information frauds. In the last years cookies have become an increasingly topic of research because of their controversial and dual nature. as they can be both beneficial and malicious, unlike other threats which are only malicious. The social and technical factors strongly influence the cookies management.
