Abstract
The study by Kaplow and colleagues sought to compare psychiatric symptoms in parentally bereaved adolescents, adolescents' bereavement due to the loss of others and non-bereaved adolescents. It adds to the growing literature in the area of childhood bereavement and uses a longitudinal design to determine the differences in symptoms based on the type of loss, while further considering the role of environmental and individual factors which pre-existed the loss.
