Abstract

Free movement of capital is one of the fundamental market freedoms of the European Community. As with the other freedoms it is not absolute. Member States retain the rights to provide for certain restrictions. Article 57 deals with some of these exceptions and the chapter analyzes the scope and application of this norm.
