Abstract
Freedom of establishment is one of the core fundamental market freedoms of the European Union. In order for this freedom to be meaningful, mechanisms must be in place for the mutual recognition of diplomas and other qualifications. This provision regulates this area of the freedom and provides a basis for EU legislative action. The chapter analyzes the scope and application of this norm.
