Abstract

The peace named after the city of Apamea Kibotos in western Asia Minor, at the sources of the Maeander, ended the war between the Seleucid King Antiochos III Megas and Rome in 188 BCE. Preliminary agreements were made by P. Scipio Asiaticus and the envoys of the Antiochos immediately after the defeat of the Seleucid army in the battle of Magnesia ad Sipylum one year earler (Polyb. 21.17.3-9).
