Abstract
The journey towards an Australian curriculum requires telling, it is a long tale full of interesting twists and turns. Nevertheless, we sit here in 2012 with a substantial and very promising Australian Curriculum (http://www.australiancurriculum. edu.au/ accessed 12 May 2012). We do not intend to tell the tale in its entirety, but an outline of this curriculum development will indeed allow those new to the teaching of English literacy in schools an insight into pedagogical direction and content framing.
