Project Details

Description

This project is to form a genetic reference population for northern beef cattle to enable genomic selection of low methane emitting and high performing parental animals. The core of the project is recording methane outputs on 3 groups of animals. 1) the repronomics steers and heifers 2) 2 pastoral companies. UNE will play a role in the project by coordinating the measurement of some of the animals and providing technical support and guidance regarding the best ways to record methane in extensive systems.
