Project Details
Description
Women who take mifepristone and subsequently decide to continue their pregnancy face a mifepristone-induced threatened miscarriage. While case series evidence suggests that oral progesterone can improve pregnancy survival rates in this situation, the evidence base remains limited. This pilot study assessed pregnancy survival rates following a standardised oral progesterone protocol in women who had taken mifepristone to commence a medical abortion and then elected to continue their pregnancy. Secondary aims included exploring women's experiences of changing their decision. The findings are expected to inform the development of a larger single-arm clinical trial and evidence-based clinical guidelines for managing women who wish to continue their pregnancy after mifepristone exposure.
