Project Details

Description

The project will assist Protected Cropping Australia (PCA) in aggregating existing and newly derived information to develop a nationally consistent map of protected cropping systems (PCS) including all commercial nets, polytunnels, shadehouses and glasshouses, to a scale and classification agreed by project partners. Mapping PCS nationally will provide PCA with a central repository of geospatial data defining the spatial extent (location and area) of structures across Australia. Understanding the current extent will allow PCA to better understand industry demographics, information that will support forward selling, labour, transport and storage requirements as well as serve as an essential tool for improved biosecurity preparedness and natural disaster response and recovery.
The national baseline map of PCS was published in June 2023, find it in the PCS Dashboard here (https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/66ecdfd3f6be4e3b9dbcf73c40dcea16/page/Page?draft=true&org=UNE-2351).
