Measured Goats in the Rangelands – Realising the Potential

Project Details

Description

The aim of this project is to obtain kids which are born in a multi-breed context, which means that they are born head to head with other crossbred animals from different breeds. This allows for similar environmental effects to be identified at the moment of recording, therefore allowing for the calculation of direct breed effects on all phenotypes recorded that later be used for genetic evaluations. AGBU staff are sub-contracted to complete the relevant genetic analysis and provide the expertise in the storage and management of genomic and phenotypic data.
