Biographical Details

Dr. Zenon Czenze joined the University of New England as a lecturer in Zoology after many years of chasing bats around the world.
His research group focuses on behavioural/physiological ecology of mammals and birds, and how aspects of a species' natural history and ecology (i.e., roost preferences, drinking behaviour, and diet) influence thermoregulation. Specifically, he is interested whole-organism thermal physiology and the energy budgets of bats, birds, gliders, and other small terrestrial marsupials.
 
His research is divided in to three main themes:
  • Impacts of heatwaves/climate change (Hot Bats)
  • Natural insect pest control (Bats and Wine)
  • Artificial habitat creation (Happy Hollows)
